In the ancient world the torch was the symbol of weddings. Torches were used to light the bride’s way to the house of the groom. A burning torch then came to symbolise the flame of love ignited by Amor. According to ancient customs, Tuesdays and Thursdays were auspicious days for a wedding and autumn and early winter a suitable time to marry. The rites of days gone by are now only of interest to literature, but the outward appearance of the bride still attracts great attention, inspiring us to make bridal fashion a key feature of this edition.
